Stanley Idaho's Redfish Lake Lodge...

...the perfect setting for a Sawtooth Mountain wedding.

this charming horsedrawn carriage is just one of the amenities available to wedding parties at redfish lake lodge

This charming horsedrawn carriage was the crowning glory for an early summer wedding party that took place recently at Redfish Lake Lodge.

Situated between Stanley and Sun Valley, in Idaho's Sawtooth Mountains, Redfish Lake Lodge is a throwback to lazy summer retreats spent in the mountains, far away from the noise and bustle of Boise, Twin Falls, and other Idaho cities. Whitewater rafting, backcountry hiking, trout fishing, and more excitement are available through local outfitters, and hot springs abound.

Redfish Lake was named for the salmon runs that, until dams and logging roads decimated the native salmon habitat, would cover the beaches with dying salmon every autumn. Rarely are native salmon seen in redfish lake these days, but the natural beauty of this historic lodge provides a story book setting for weddings and other special events.

The rare beauty of this place will stand forever in our memories as the perfect wedding day.

outdoor heated tents and a bbq provide a cookout with class to our wedding party of over 100 people The Redfish Lake Lodge staff set up outdoor heated tents and a large BBQ to provide a cookout with class to this wedding party of over 100 people.

While the Lodge's indoor restaurant is decked out in rustic Idaho back country grandeur, it was no match for the display of the Sawtooth Mountains across the lake outside, despite the unpredictable and crisp evening weather in early June. Our hosts set up a stunning outdoor grill and banquet, complete with heated tents, serving a full bar and flame broiled gourmet blue cheese topped burgers, grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms, and all the trimmings were served by a bevy of white-aproned wait staff.

The smell of pine, a slight chill in the June air... what a lovely rehearsal dinner!

A lakeside service This south shore lakeside service was a short walk from the lodge, or carriage ride in the case of the bride and groom.

Wooden fold out chairs within a few feet of the surf and a small arch were the only accoutrements to this stunning wedding ceremony...

...plain white lillies against deep red satin on the bridesmaids and a brief ceremony, and afterward a celebration reception and dance in heated outdoor tents.

The calls of raptors, the wind in the trees, and the sound of the waves interplayed with the couple's solemn vows as a lone kayaker glid silently across the lake out in the distance. All against the magnificent setting of the Sawtooth Mountains sunlight dancing against a cloudy haze as the wind blew a spattering of mist across Redfish Lake.

Private guest cabinsFamily members stayed in many of the private cabins avilable. Other guests stayed just a short drive away in Stanley or in Sun Valley...

... we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast at the Bakery in Stanley prior to attending the ceremony. One popular breakfast recommendation in any Idaho mountain town is Huckleberry pancakes!
